Special Equipment (for decoration):
A heart cookie cutter (or use a knife)
A piping set and small tip
2 cups white sugar
4 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
3/4 cup cocoa powder
1 cup all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
For icing:
2 cups confectioner's powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
food coloring
Optional: other decorations - I used sprinkles and confectioner's sugar
Special Equipment (for decoration):
A heart cookie cutter (or use a knife)
A piping set and small tip
Instructions
2. In medium sized pot, melt butter. Once butter is melted, stir in chocolate chips. Stir until completely melted. Remove pot from heat.
3. Stir in white sugar, eggs and vanilla extract. Mix until combined.
4. Add cocoa powder, flour, baking powder and salt one at a time and mix until combined.
5. Spread batter into 9x13 pan.
6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until inserted toothpick comes out clean.
7. Remove brownies from oven and allow to cool completely.
8. Either using cookie cutter or knife, carefully cut brownies into heart shapes.
9. Mix together icing ingredients. Add more milk teaspoon by teaspoon until it reaches desired consistency. It's ideal when it resembles pancake batter. Then add how ever much food coloring necessary to make your desired color.
10. Put icing into piping bag and decorate!
Tip: If adding sprinkles, first ice brownie using brush and then coat with sprinkles. Also, if you would like to dust with confectioner's sugar, cut heart of desired size out of paper or wax paper and then lightly dust with confectioner's sugar.
